A Strategic Way to Explore Argument-Driven Inquiry in Your District

ADI Pilot Program

The ADI Pilot Program is a short-term, structured implementation designed to help districts explore the instructional impact, implementation readiness, and overall fit of the Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) model before expanding more broadly.

Rather than committing to a full adoption, a pilot allows district leaders and teachers to experience ADI in authentic classroom settings while receiving targeted guidance and support. Through this process, districts gather meaningful instructional data and insight to inform future planning and adoption decisions.

Why an ADI Pilot?

An ADI pilot is a short-term, focused implementation that allows district leaders and teachers to experience ADI in authentic classroom settings with structured guidance and support—without committing to a full adoption. Instead of guessing what implementation will require, a pilot helps districts gather meaningful instructional insight, identify support needs, and determine next steps with confidence.

What districts can do through a pilot:

  • Experience ADI with real students in real classrooms

  • Collect teacher feedback and student work samples to inform decisions

  • Evaluate overall fit with district priorities before scaling

Why Start with an ADI Pilot?

An ADI pilot provides districts with a low-risk, high-impact way to explore three-dimensional science instruction in real classrooms with real students.

Through a pilot, districts are able to:

  • Experience ADI in authentic classroom environments

  • Support a focused group of teachers through structured implementation

  • Examine student discourse, reasoning, and sensemaking

  • Gather feedback from teachers and instructional leaders

  • Make informed decisions about long-term instructional planning and expansion

Pilots are designed to minimize risk while maximizing instructional learning and leadership insight.

What an ADI Pilot Includes

Each ADI pilot is customized to district goals and priorities, but every pilot includes four integrated components:

Instructional Materials

Teachers receive access to selected ADI investigations, digital resources through the ADI Learning Hub, and supporting print and hands-on materials.

Support & Coaching

Participating teachers and leaders receive ongoing check-ins and instructional coaching focused on discourse, argumentation routines, pacing, and classroom implementation.

Professional Learning

Each pilot begins with a structured launch and planning session to align goals, prepare teachers, and establish a clear implementation plan.

Strategic Reflection

Pilots include tools for gathering teacher feedback, reviewing student work, and conducting structured reflection to inform next steps.

Let’s Plan Your Pilot

The next step is a short planning conversation to:

  • Clarify district goals and priorities

  • Identify appropriate grade levels or courses

  • Determine timeline and scope
