Getting Started with ADI
ADI is an instructional approach and not a curriculum. Teachers can therefore start using ADI as a way to transform the way they teach without needing to adopt a whole new curriculum first. To help teachers make this shift in the way they teach, we have developed a series of books for teachers. These books include all the instructional materials that teachers need to get started. We also offer face-to-face and online professional development for teachers. Our PD was is based on research about how teachers learn and is designed to help teachers develop the knowledge and skills they need to start using ADI. We also have lab kits and other classroom resources for teachers available at our store.
Instructional materials for grades 3-12.
ADI is an instructional approach that can be used in grades 3-12. We wrote each our books for a specific grade band and discipline. All of our books include an overview of what ADI is and how it works along with 15-30 different lab investigations. There is a reproducible copy master of the student lab handout and checkout questions for each investigation. All of the books also include teacher notes for each lab and a reproducible copy master of the peer-review guides and investigations proposals that students use during an investigation.
PD that is way more than a typical sit and get.
Our professional development experiences are designed for classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, and instructional coaches. We provide face-to-face workshops and online courses that are designed to:
- introduce people to ADI (100 level workshops or online courses),
- help people plan for their first year of using ADI (200 level workshops or online courses), or
- provide ongoing support and feedback as they start using it (300 level workshops or online courses).
The classroom supplies teachers
want when they want them.
We have many different classroom resources that teachers can use during an ADI investigation. These resources include posters, whiteboard, easels, lanyards, and back pocket questions. These resources can be purchased individually or as part of a classroom starter pack from our store. We are also in the process of developing teacher guidance PowerPoints and lab kits that include all the required consumable for each ADI lab investigation found in our books. These resources will be added to our store as we make them. Our goal is to make it easy for teachers to get the resources they want when they want them.
